Responsibilities: 


  • Lead and is accountable for the development, direction, and performance of the Legal Department

  • Develop and lead the Corporate legal Strategy over both the short and long term to promote and protect Golf Saudi’s matters.

  • Provide legal representation to Golf Saudi and manage the full range of legal Strategies and responsibilities for Golf Saudi’s jurisdictions.

  • Develop, articulate, and monitor the implementation of the Mission, Vision, Objectives, Financial Plan and KPIs for the legal Department, in line with Golf Saudi’s Corporate Plans and Strategic Objectives.

  • Develop and ensure the adherence to the approved legal related policy manuals, guidelines, procedures, and other related documentation.

  • Oversee the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals and priorities.

  • Maintain proper corporate interactions with the relevant local, state, and federal governmental bodies, legislatures, and the community at large.

  • Monitor legal issues that affect Golf Saudi and its activities at the local and international levels associated with the organization’s activities, ongoing operations, and strategic initiatives.

  • Maintain, in coordination with the Compliance Department, a repository of all relevant laws and regulations that are deemed to affect Golf Saudi and communicate the same with the relevant internal stakeholders.

  • Conduct activities to minimize the departure of laws and regulations by Golf Saudi, monitor any non-compliance and report to the CEO regularly.

  • Maintain active custody of Power of Attorney (PoA).

  • Recruit, build and develop a legal team with the requisite skills to meet the short term and long-term requirements of the business.

  • Provide training and mentor legal team and business on legal issues, processes, and policies to all [Departments, sub-departments, and sub-sub-departments] of Golf Saudi.


  • Legally file for copyright of intellectual property.

  • Attend organization-wide meetings, as required, and serve on relevant committees to review and align legal goals to other departmental and organizational objectives.

  • Work in collaboration with other C-level members and contribute to key strategic meetings as required.

  • Provide legal counsel (advice etc.) to employees in all Departments on relevant legal issues.

  • Together with the finance and HR teams develop a legal budget on an annual basis.

Select and appoint outside counsel where relevant and monitor outside counsel budgets.

Qualifications


  • Minimum 15 years of relevant leadership and technical legal experience.

  • Experience in KSA or the Gulf countries is advantageous.

  • Experience as General Counsel or Chief Legal officer with prior managerial experience in a Legal Department.

  • Experience at C-Suite level, working with the board, attending board meetings and member of the executive committee or equivalent.

  • Experience in international transactions and international corporate and commercial law including inter alia, mergers and acquisitions, franchise, financing, tax, retail, operation & management, events, sponsorship and employment.

  • Experience in international destination management development.

  • Sound knowledge of Legal matters and should have updated knowledge of regional laws and regulations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Law or any relevant field is mandatory.

Master’s, postgraduate degree or equivalent in Law or any related field is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies: 


  • Experience and an interest in sport and sporting regulations.

  • Experience of leading a multinational and culturally diverse team.

  • Golf industry /market awareness.

  • Technologically astute with an awareness of legal technology and keenness to implement solutions to enhance efficiencies.

  • Possess cultural and political awareness.

  • International legal and regulatory experience in jurisdictions relevant to Golf Saudi.

Proficient command of English. Arabic is preferred.
