Company Overview:


Inuka is partnering with a prominent renewable energy investment platform that is looking for a General Counsel based in Dubai. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s investment activities across the renewable energy sector, ensuring legal compliance, managing risks, and guiding strategic decision-making processes.


Role Overview:


The General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters related to the company’s investment and operational activities in the renewable energy sector. This includes advising on investment transactions, managing legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and liaising with external legal firms when necessary. The General Counsel will also play a key role in negotiating contracts, structuring deals, and providing strategic advice to the executive leadership team to support business growth and operational excellence.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide legal counsel and support for all investment and operational activities, including M&A transactions, joint ventures, and project finance deals.
  • Ensure that all company activities are compliant with relevant laws and regulations, particularly those relating to renewable energy and investment practices in the MENA region.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and investment terms, ensuring all risks are managed effectively.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop legal strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives and investment goals.
  • Lead and coordinate with external legal counsel on complex legal matters and dispute resolutions when needed.
  • Establish and implement legal policies, procedures, and best practices to promote a strong legal framework and minimise risks.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the renewable energy sector and proactively advise the leadership team on potential impacts.
  • Support the compliance team in monitoring and managing regulatory compliance across different jurisdictions where the company operates.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) is required; a Master’s degree (LLM) or specialisation in Corporate Law, Energy Law, or related fields will be considered an advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior legal role, ideally within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or investment sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale investment transactions, including M&A, project finance, and joint ventures.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the renewable energy sector, particularly in the MENA region.
  • Proven track record of advising executive teams and managing external legal counsel effectively.
