General Counsel – Shipping – Dubai

We are working with a rapidly scaling business in the shipping sector with a global footprint across the Middle East, Asia and Europe. They are looking to make their first permanent hire in the legal function based in Dubai.

This is a GC role where you will report directly to the CEO in a position of authority. Responsibilities are broad and include building out the legal function and focusing on areas such as corporate M&A, corporate governance, regulatory, commercial, insurance and procurement matters. Experience in the shipping and maritime industry would be relevant although our client is also open to seeing experience from other similar sectors including logistics and commodities.

You must have at least 8 years of experience coming from a law firm or in-house environment and have a legal qualification. Experience building legal functions with a for global companies would be very relevant for this opportunity given the nature of the business. Although languages are not necessary for this position, spoken German and/or Arabic would also be hugely beneficial.

Remuneration: £155,000 – £170,000 tax free + benefits + bonus
