RESOLVA is assisting Milestone with the recruitment of a Head of Group Legal to their Legal, Compliance & Risk Management team


ROLE DESCRIPTION


Milestone is looking for an ambitious and talented Head of Group Legal with leadership experience as well as experience within technology, software (and possibly AI), and with an eagerness to understand the world of security and technology.


In this role, you will meet a great variety of tasks using all aspects of your knowledge and experience to provide support and advice to a wide number of stakeholders across the organization. You will partner with all levels of the organization, and work closely with the Technology Group, Sales Department, Marketing Department as well as with People & Culture.


Ensuring Milestone’s legal compliance worldwide is of the utmost importance to Milestone. In this regard, you will support the organization by mapping new relevant laws and regulations and ensuring that such laws and regulations are implemented in the way Milestone operates. Furthermore, you will among other assignments support Milestone’s Group General Counsel on business planning, priorities, etc. and provide general legal support and advice to the global organization with a focus on technology, software as a service, AI compliance, GDPR compliance, commercial contracts, etc.


Due to Milestone’s global scope and presence across many regions, countries and cultures, you must be willing to take on an extrovert role and be highly communicative. The role entails building an important internal network with stakeholders in various departments as well as interacting with the Executive Management Team. Thus, communication skills, cultural empathy, business understanding/acumen and stakeholder management are essential competencies.


LEGAL TEAM


As Head of Group Legal, you will be a part of Milestone’s Legal, Compliance & Risk Management (LCRM) team, which consists of 14 legal, compliance and risk professionals globally, including Group General Counsel, Dorthe Rosenkilde Saunders, who you will be reporting to. The team is based in Milestone’s HQ in Brøndby, Denmark, together with Milestone’s management and group functions.


As Head of Group Legal, you will lead the legal team providing support to the global Milestone Group. The legal team consists of 4 Legal Business Partners at HQ, who support each major business unit within Milestone, 4 Regional Legal Counsels, who are based in Portland (Oregon), Singapore and Israel and provide regional support to the business in Americas, APAC and EMEA, as well as of 2 Legal Counsels providing project and/or general legal support.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY


As Head of Group Legal, you will be handling a range of tasks including:


  • Managing the global legal team in Milestone.

  • Coordinating the legal support provided to the whole global Milestone organization.

  • Ensuring that strategic initiatives and projects (such as significant internal projects related to e.g. Responsible Technology and assessment of new products or cloud solutions) are properly supported.

  • Supporting Milestone’s Group General Counsel on business planning, priorities, etc.

  • Providing general legal support and advice to the global organization with a focus on technology, software as a service, AI compliance, GDPR compliance, commercial contracts, etc. Such support may include legal assistance in connection with procurement of essential software, platforms or IT tools, design of legal framework for distributors, resellers, and technology partners, ensuring AI compliance in connection with product development, and implementation of new legislation (such as NIS2, the Data Act and the AI Act) and ISO certification requirements.

  • Stakeholder management in general.

REPORTING AND TITLE


Reporting to: Group General Counsel, VP for Legal, Compliance and Risk Management, Dorthe Rosenkilde Saunders.


Title: Head of Group Legal.


IDEAL EXPERIENCE


Education: You have a Master of Laws (cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.) from Denmark or another EU country and possible also license to practice as attorney-at-law from a reputable law firm.


Legal areas: You have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience from a law firm and/or in-house legal position. Preferable, you have experience with commercial contracts, technology, GDPR and other relevant legal areas.


Commercial contracts & setting: You have solid experience and interest in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, preferably in an international context and in close cooperation with internal and / or external stakeholders. Further, you are an individual who thrives in a commercial setting, where finding commercially viable legal solutions is in focus.


International outlook: Preferably, you have an international outlook and experience, and in any case an eagerness to work in an international setting.


Stakeholder management: You have excellent abilities in interacting and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including at senior executive level. You constructively balance legal and commercial interests, and you are comfortable with flagging and challenging processes and decisions that impose regulatory compliance risks.


Language skills: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language and generally strong communication skills, which enable you to engage in a clear, concise, and constructive dialogue with colleagues representing different professions and perspectives.
