TL;DR

🤓 We currently have an opportunity for a talented and business oriented lawyer to join us and support the high speed growth and international expansion of Photoroom. As the first internal role for the legal function, this position presents a unique opportunity for professional growth, as the role will evolve in the long term thanks to scope expansion, growth of the company and of the legal team.

This position requires the capacity of working in a fast growing tech company, which does most of its business outside of France-mainly in the USA. It also requires the ability of developing a high level of understanding of how our product works, creating close connections with operational teams and managing external advisors on diverse topics. Having an aptitude for stakeholder and project management is a must. 

💰 90-130k€ gross* + Stock-Options/BSPCE

🇪🇺 We are flexible: you can work from anywhere in Europe within a 3-hour flight from Paris (HQ) and come to our office once a month (fully reimbursed) or more often. This ensures effective collaboration and supports our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.

✈️ We offer substantial support for relocation (up to 10k€), including finding an apartment in Paris and supporting you with the visa procedure.

🛂 We currently sponsor visas for individuals relocating to France or already based here. We are unable to sponsor visas for remote positions outside of France at this time.

*We can go higher for outstanding profiles and adapt to the cost of living if it is higher than in Paris.

Your Responsibilities

Business, contracts

  • Be a trusted advisor to the product/business teams by providing creative solutions while ensuring compliance with regulations, with a specific focus on Product and Marketing;

  • Draft and negotiate all types of contracts (including commercial contracts on both the client and supplier sides, partnership agreements, marketing agreements, license agreements, etc);

  • Manage any pre-litigations and litigations, with the support of external advisors, including mediation and arbitration

  • Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on a variety of business matters related to US and international operations and transactions.

Regulatory

  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may affect the company's business and operations, especially in Europe and in the USA; areas of particular relevance include commercial contracts, Intellectual Property law, GDPR, Artificial Intelligence;

  • Advise on regulatory compliance issues pertaining to trade and commercial relationships between France and the US.

  • Collaborate with external legal counsels in Europe and in the US as necessary to ensure consistent legal strategy and risk management.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to respond to requests from regulators;

Others

  • Managing the company’s IP rights portfolio;

  • All other matters which arise in the day to day running of an expanding business;

  • As a second step: Corporate aspects, including potential acquisitions that Photoroom could make and future fundraisings, under the guidance from Founders and CFO.

Profile/Qualifications

Qualifications and experience

  • 5-9 years of experience as a qualified lawyer, with experience in technology companies, either in private practice and/or in-house. Experience in-house will be a great plus, some experience on Corporate topics is a nice to have;

  • Licensed to practice law in France; admission to a bar in the United States is a plus; strong experience in and understanding of both French and American legal systems and business practices;

  • Knowledge and experience in dealing with a range of commercial issues such as contract drafting and negotiation, T&Cs, NDAs, consumer protection;

  • Knowledge and experience dealing with regulatory topics;

  • Proven experience working with various jurisdictions, including the USA and in handling cross-border transactional matters, especially involving the USA;

  • Experience creating and managing processes and moving large-scale projects forward;

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;

  • Business oriented, creative and solution driven mind-set;

  • Ability to work fast and meet tight deadlines;

  • Flexibility and eagerness to learn new areas of law, e.g Corporate matters, AI sector-specific legal evolutions;

  • Fluent in English and French
