Head of Legal

 We are seeking a Head of Legal to join our rapidly growing team. Reporting to our Chief Legal Officer, you will oversee all UK legal matters as well as work with the wider Legal & Corporate Affairs function to support our business expansion globally. 

This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity from our Leamington office with travel to our planned office in Bicester.

What you’ll do

• Lead the UK legal team, providing strategic direction and ensuring high performance
• Establish and implement best practices for legal operations, including development of legal strategy, policy and procedure from the ground up, in alignment with the company’s business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the drafting and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements, including global partnerships, digital and IP, sales and procurement.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
• Work closely cross functionally, including Engineering and Purchasing to provide legal support, training and guidance.
• Manage legal cost/budget. 
• International Projects: Opportunities to support on global projects, with project management of external lawyers.

Who you are

• Strategic thinker with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
• Strong leadership skills to manage direct team, with the ability to collaborate cross functionally to achieve strategic objectives.
• Law degree from an accredited institution; minimum of 10 years’ PQE as a UK qualified lawyer; extensive experience at senior level.
• Strong technical background with in-depth knowledge of UK laws and regulations.  Automotive and technology experience preferred.     
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proven experience in managing complex legal issues both in the UK and internationally.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, start up environment being adaptable to manage multiple priorities.
• High levels of integrity and ethical standards.
• Commercially astute with the ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
