Primary Function of Position

The Director, Legal and Compliance, APAC is responsible for supporting the growth of and enhancing and maintaining our corporate compliance program in the APAC region, particularly in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, India and Australia/New Zealand. The role requires general familiarity with and understanding of the laws, rules and regulations applicable to global companies, including many of the following: interactions with healthcare providers and government officials, anti-corruption, anti-kickback/false claims, transparency reporting, data privacy and information security, government contracting, conduct in a clinical setting, interactions with patients, document and policy management, and antitrust and competition. This role will collaborate with large teams consisting of business, finance, audit, legal, compliance, clinical affairs, GAVE and human resources colleagues in a matrixed environment to support adherence to our compliance and ethical obligations.

Essential Job Duties

  • Supporting business goals and objectives while building and maintaining a strong culture of compliance and ethics throughout the APAC region by, among other things, drafting, revising, and implementing effective codes, policies, procedures and processes and supervising effective document and policy management.
  • Developing, modifying and delivering live, virtual and recorded training to educate and test employees on a broad range of APAC compliance and ethics topics.
  • Ensuring open and effective lines of communication and information reporting at all levels of the APAC and global organizations, including through the third-party whistleblower hotline.
  • Directing or supporting risk assessments, audit activities, third-party relationship management (including suppliers, platform dealers and distributors) and remediation activities with the country-level Legal and Compliance teams throughout the APAC region.
  • Monitoring and benchmarking the performance and effectiveness of compliance program execution in APAC on a continuing basis through development, collection and analysis of key metrics, reports and dashboards.
  • Collecting and analyzing targeted organizational data (including compensation structures, incentives and disincentives) within APAC to help identify, prioritize and address key risk areas.
  • Implementing and supervising an effective compliance monitoring, testing and review program throughout APAC.
  • Supervising the APAC internal compliance investigation program and leading individual investigations concerning allegations of wrongdoing.
  • Proactively collaborate with global, APAC and country-level Finance, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Clinical Affairs, GAVE, HR and other functions in pursuit of a best-in-class, integrated compliance program.
