Care Solace connects residents, students and families with mental healthcare, social service resources and providers in their communities. Our goal is to ensure communities have access to equitable, reliable, ethical, and high-quality social and mental healthcare services, regardless of income level. We exist to ensure every student, family member, and school-based staff member is not left to carry the heavy burden of finding accessible mental health care alone. Our web-based care navigation system enables the fast, easy, and convenient connection of residents, students and families in need of social and mental healthcare to qualified providers and resources.


Job Purpose

Responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations to executives and management with the objective to minimize company risk profile.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Head of Legal will be responsible for completing a variety of routine and non-routine legal assignments and intermediate level projects independently and using professional legal concepts and principles in accordance with company and departmental objectives to solve challenging legal issues in practical ways
  • Manages sales contract process and negotiations with customers.
  • Collaborate with external lawyers and non-lawyers throughout the company on initiatives and implementationsWorks autonomously with regular collaboration and reporting to management
  • Research legal principles and precedents
  • Draft and execute legal documents
  • Provides legal solutions to a wide range of difficult or new problems
  • Develops recommendations and solutions that are thorough, practical, and consistent with organizational objectives and risk appetite, and engages with others in a proactive and collaborative manner
  • Assesses and mitigates risk for the organization
  • Reports to executive team any significant identified business exposure and associated risks as well as mitigation techniques recommended
  • Manages multiple fast-moving projects in an organized manner, paying close attention to details

Requirements

Education & Skills

  • Requires a JD, current license to practice law in at least one state, and a minimum of 10+ years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 
  • Deep knowledge of employment law (CA specific) a plus.
  • Knowledge of M&A due diligence is a plus.
  • Knowledge in data privacy, intellectual property, equity plans and corporate governance is a plus.
  • Exposure/knowledge integrating and leveraging AI is a plus.

Working Experience

  • 4-5 years minimum of prior in-house experience at a larger company required
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, with ability to tailor communication style according to the audience.
  • Has knowledge of specific technical depth and/or breadth of organizational and industry legal issues.
  • Sound cross-functional collaboration, ability to strategically prioritize, keep up with a fast-paced entrepreneurial type of environment. You must be able to deal with ambiguity and seek out opportunities to contribute across various teams.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal risks and issues.

Working Conditions

This position is expected to work out of the Corporate Office in Cardiff, CA, with 1 remote day per week. Some company events and travel may be required for this position.


Working Hours

Full time. Candidates must be based in the Pacific Standard Time Zone. 


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
